Hello! My name is Sandra, but i also go by Sanny, Mui-Mui, Mei-Mei, San, Sand (but never Sandy), and now...White Duck Shop. I'm located in New York City where I was born and raised, and this is my blog where I'll be sharing with you my ideas, interests, and inspiration.
I grew up with 2 older siblings in a tiny studio apartment on top of a tofu shop in Chinatown. My parents worked at a sweatshop for most of my childhood as a presser and a seamstress. In our apartment we had shelf dividers made of cardboard, storage made of grocery bags, letter holders made of tissue boxes, rags made of out-grown hand-me-down clothes, and the list goes on. So, in a way, I grew up in a handmade household. :)
At first, crafting was for utility. But now, with opportunities made possible by my parents' sacrifices, I can craft for design as well.
I don't think I've fully honed in on a "style" quite yet, but what I can tell you is that I am inspired by a bevy of things such as folk art, the jazz age, street art, nature, old new york architecture, music, and on and on it goes.
I hope you like what you find here, and thanks for stopping by!
