THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY

I recently read Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua, and liked it a lot. I never thought I'd read it because I bought into all the the negative reviews it received. The media made the author sound like an arrogant mother who thought her methods reigned supreme and was using the Chinese aspect of her culture to sell the book.

Boy, was I wrong! I'm so glad I gave it a chance because it's nothing like what the media made it out to be. It did not read like a parenting manual at all. To me, it sounded more like a memoir written for her daughters, so that they could understand why she raised them in the "Chinese Mother" way. It certainly helped me understand a little bit of why my mom does the things she does.

I highly recommend it! Though, I can in no way recommend this way of child-rearing.

THE PAST FEW MONTHS HAVE RENDERED ME...

Thank goodness my busy streak is fizzling out. My brain has been close to implosion a few times these past few months. Many things have been happening, and I have many things to show for it. I will fill this blog with content, good content! (I hope :)

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Noah got me a cat calendar as a gag gift last year because I'm always sending him links to photos of adorable animals during work. It was pretty great. I got into the habit of doodling on the cats, and thought that it would be fun to make my own calendar this year, with doodles. I started my January calendar and bit too late, and just finished it today. There are 12 days left for me to cross off. Not too shabby for my record of never getting projects done in a timely manner.
